Like Life is Strange, Lost Records pays homage to its inspirations by including them in licence plates on vehicles. It wasn't until after I finished Tape 2 and saw some very Control Remedy stuff that I remembered Control was indeed one of those inspirations.

Interestingly, most licence plates are typically title abbreviations. Control's is AWEFBC - Altered World Event, Federal Bureau of Control. Some of the stuff going on in Velvet Cove is very much an AWE by Control's definition, and the more I started thinking about the unresolved paranormal aspects through a Control related lens, the more intrigued I got and the more sense it made.

These theories are unanswered thoughts that likely will not be resolved for many years to come if ever, but I digress. I might add more to this later as things occur to me.

Game: Lost Records: Bloom & Rage [Tape 1]
Dates played: 24/03/25 - 29/03/25


Thoughts as I went, or retrospectively after scenes ended. Lost Records is a spiritual successor to Life is Strange by those that made it at Don't Nod, and follows the story of four girls in the summer of 1995; a time which they have all collectively forgotten, but twenty seven years later, they must now remember.

The second tape - or the second half of the game - is releasing in mid April, though I likely won't play for a couple of weeks so some guides can go up. (There is a decent bit of weirdness Tape 1 sets up for that I anticipate to be amped up greatly on Tape 2 and I need to be able to skim a guide in case anything is borderline comfort zone).

I played this a couple of hours at a time and sometimes in the mornings after my body woke me up after 3-4 hours of sleep. Hopefully it stops doing that soon. I'll attempt doing some MSQ in XIV if it continues.
